David J Cennimo, MD, FACP, FAAP, FIDSA
Dr. David Cennimo is a graduate of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School where he also completed a combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency, Internal Medicine chief residency, and fellowships in both Adult and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Currently, Dr. Cennimo is practicing clinical infectious diseases and infection control at the VA New Jersey Health Care System where he is also the Associate Chief of Staff for Education and the Med-Peds residency associate program director. His pediatric practice encompasses an appointment as a Pediatric Infectious Diseases attending at University Hospital and the Global TB Center, both in Newark, NJ. He continues to pursue his passion for medical education as core faculty in multiple programs and an Associate Dean for Education at NJMS. Dr. Cennimo’s clinical focus range from HIV, tuberculosis, and emerging pathogens to vaccination implementation and infection prevention including as a consultant to the NJ State Department of Health.
Dr. David Cennimo practices clinical infectious disease and infection control as an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatric Infectious Disease at Rutgers University. He serves as Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. In addition, His clinical interests include long term HIV care, antibiotic resistance, tuberculosis, vaccine hesitancy, and emerging pathogens.
Andrew Jameson, MD, FACP, FIDSA, AAHIVS
Andrew Jameson is an Infectious Diseases physician practicing at Trinity Health Grand Rapids, joining the hospital in 2014. He was trained at Wayne State Medical School, MSU for Internal Medicine residency, and University of Michigan for Infectious Diseases training. He enjoys both medical education as well as clinical care. His clinical interests include HIV care, atypical mycobacterium, and infections in immunocompromised hosts. Administratively, he supports a variety of specialty medicine offices in West Michigan for Trinity Health. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine teaching medical students, residents, and Infectious Diseases fellows.
Justin Ortiz, MD, MS
Dr. Ortiz is a Professor of Medicine at the UMSOM. He trained as an adult pulmonary and critical care physician and has additional training in field epidemiology and vaccinology. He is an internationally recognized expert in respiratory virus prevention and control. He began his public health research career in 2005 as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer in the Influenza Division at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). After leaving the CDC in 2007, he became faculty at the University of Washington where he led an influenza research group and collaborated on influenza vaccine trials in Senegal, South Africa, and Bangladesh. From 2014-2017, he was a Medical Officer at the WHO Initiative for Vaccine Research where he led influenza vaccine policy, implementation, and research activities. Since 2018, he has worked as a physician scientist at the Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health at the University of Maryland. He is the PI on the NIH-funded Collaborative Influenza Vaccine Innovation Centers (CIVICs) Clinical Core at UMSOM, and he leads CIVICs studies developing controlled human influenza virus infection models to accelerate clinical development of influenza vaccines. He is an advisor to the Council of Medical Specialty Societies on adult immunization, and he co-chairs the American Thoracic Society Vaccine Initiative which aims to improve adult immunization rates among persons with chronic lung disease in the United States.
Patricia Kaiser
Patricia Kaiser is a Recruiter/Trainer for the NJ Immunization Information System (NJIIS) and has worked for the Central Jersey Family Health Consortium (CJFHC) for over 19 years, 17 of which have been with NJIIS. Her dedication and drive have allowed her to rise within the Consortium.
Ms. Kaiser has been a Certified Trainer for over 15 years with NJIIS and conducts Statewide NJIIS trainings and provider assistance throughout the Central Jersey region (Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Somerset). Ms. Kaiser assisted the NJ Department of Health, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program in the re-writing of the NJ Immunization Registry in 2018, creating NJIIS help documents for NJIIS users and creating pre-recorded webinars.
In August 2011, Ms. Kaiser became the Program Coordinator for CJFHC, overseeing quality assurance for NJIIS in addition to training and Provider assistance. Her career in Information Technology, Business and Customer Service/Satisfaction has provided her the insight necessary to work with healthcare providers and NJIIS.
Ms. Kaiser offers regular trainings to provider staff on the benefits of utilizing the NJ Immunization Information System and the various aspects of the system, in addition to providing technical assistance to and troubleshooting issues related to Vaccine for Children (VFC), Vaccine for Adult (Adult 317) and COVID-19 inventory. Ms. Kaiser keeps current with any changes to NJIIS, bringing these changes to healthcare providers throughout the Central Jersey region.
Fran Griffin, MPA, RRT
Fran Griffin is a consultant in quality improvement, patient safety and high reliability and has worked in health care for over 30 years. Ms. Griffin is a Registered Respiratory Therapist who advanced to hospital administration overseeing quality, case management and related departments. She currently works at the Infectious Diseases Society of America and serves as improvement advisor to the NJ Academy of Family Physicians. Her previous experience includes roles at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and CMS Innovation Center. Fran is the author of numerous articles related to patient safety and quality improvement in health care.
