LCDR Neil Murthy is a medical officer with the United States Public Health Service and works in the Immunization Services Division at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He co-leads the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) Immunization Schedules’ Workgroup and leads the development of the annual adult immunization schedule for routinely recommended vaccines. He has been deployed on the CDC’s COVID-19 response since March 2020 and has served in various roles during the ongoing COVID-19 response, including analyzing vaccination uptake and coverage, educating healthcare providers about COVID-19 vaccines, and building the informatics infrastructure to capture COVID-19 vaccinations. He was an Epidemic Intelligence Officer from 2016-2018 and completed his preventive medicine residency at CDC in 2020 and is board certified in preventive medicine. He is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, the Harvard School of Public Health, and Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism. He is deeply passionate about combining his interests in medicine, public health, and communications.
